Spring Community Garage Sale: For sellers and shoppers alike, the Spring Community Garage Sale could be the biggest garage sale day of this year. What started eight years ago with 30 vendors in one building has quickly grown into an event while takes over the entire Southwest Washington fairgrounds, turning it into one gigantic treasure hunt! Admission is just $1, kids 12 & under free. Early-bird shoppers can buy a pass to get an 8am start for $5. Saturday, March 31st, 9am-4pm. Buyers and sellers from all over Washington, Oregon and points further, will be headed to the Southwest Washington Fair & Expo Center in Chehalis, WA on Saturday, March 31^st.  Even with a slightly earlier than usual date this year, the annual Spring Community Garage Sale is expected to pack in the people.  Over 430 vendor booths fill ten fairgrounds buildings with merchandise, junk, treasures, arts & crafts, antiques, garage sales, estate sales, store liquidations, and charity fund-raiser sales.

It takes a full 12 hour day and then some just to get all the vendors and their merchandise in and set-up according to Patrick Slusher, marketing specialist, who organizes the event for the Southwest Washington Fair & Expo Center. The most asked question from the vendors is where is the best spot? In my opinion it doesn’t matter. The crowds go through this event like locusts from one end to the other. Then they have lunch, then turn around and go all the way back through in the other direction. You’ve got to go at each booth in a couple of different directions to make sure you it all. Plus prices change all day long, more merchandise comes out later in the day, and there always seems to be lots of freebies at the very end. That’s why we tell shoppers to plan on just staying the entire day.

Vendor space is available through Friday, March 30^th. For more information, call (360) 740-2655. Public hours for the sale are 9:00 am 4:00 pm. Adult admission is $1.00, kids age 12 & under are admitted free. Early bird shoppers’ passes are available at both gates for $5.00 starting at 8:00 am. Coumbs Concessions will be serving breakfast till 10:30 am and lunch till 4:00 pm. The Giant Slide Ride will be on hand as an inexpensive diversion for the kids all day. Free public parking is available at the South end of the fairgrounds. Public entry is through the Green and Blue gates only.
